Our story
As designers, we know everything looks better in a frame. But for too long, framing your favourite things has meant unreasonable compromises. No longer.
The challenge
Our story began when our founder, Roger Felton, a seasoned creative director, noticed his artist wife, Kate, struggling with the expensive and time-consuming world of traditional framers and the low-quality and unsustainable off-the-shelf alternatives. The time, effort and money she spent on framing her sketches made them too pricey for local art fairs.
Sound familiar?
The idea on paper
Roger's vision was that framing should be as easy as possible: each frame should be adaptable to multiple standard and non-standard sizes and you shouldn’t need to use power tools to assemble or hang the frame on the wall. After all, who doesn't have a drawer full of things that they would frame if they could be arsed to or afford to?
Oh, and the frames had to look great and be the most sustainable option on the market.
"We want to encourage everyone to create their own home gallery but radically change the way they do it."
Made in creative collaboration
In collaboration with Kate and by bringing production expert Matt on board, our vision was becoming possible. The final piece was to collaborate with Fedrigoni on the materials. Master papermakers of Verona, Italy, since 1888, Fedrigoni knows a thing or two about making a quality product. Using only Forestry Commission Certified paper pulp, we were able to bring a product into the world that is beautiful, convenient, easy to assemble, and the most sustainable mass-produced option on the market.
Paper perfection
Every Pop-up Frame is made using 100% Forestry Commission Certified paper pulp produced by the Italian papermakers Fedrigoni and Favini.
Finally, frames designed for modern living
Our picture frames eliminate the faff of framing. They come in 3 sizes — Small, Medium, and Poster — and each kit is customisable to numerous different portrait and landscape dimensions. Simply cut the frame’s height and width with scissors, pop it together, mount your artwork and stick on the wall with the supplied wall-friendly adhesive strips. No tools, no mess, no stress — all in the time it takes to make a cup of tea (according to Yorkshire Tea).
The frame as you go method
After rigorous testing, we've dialled in our sizing ratios so that no matter what it is you want to frame, there's always a Pop-up Frame kit for it. Because each kit is adaptable to multiple sizes, this changes the framing experience: you can hang any item on the wall the moment inspiration strikes. No more online searches for the right size. No more frame-shame from never getting around to it.
Imagine how good it would feel to finally put that poster up? To frame those Hockney prints from the Tate Gallery. To at-last display those photos you took at that iconic event?
Make your walls a canvas for the things that inspire you and the good times and lovely people you want to be reminded of...every day.
