Why so much art never makes it to the wall

We get it — picture framing can be a faff. You've poured your heart into a piece, taken a step back and are feeling good. But then you realise: you don't have a frame for it.

You're left with unsatisfactory options:

  • Take on a bespoke frame at great expense
  • Spend ages searching for the right size and material only to find low quality and expensive options

We're here to tell you: there's a better way.

Enter: the Pop-up Frames

Pop-up Frames are cut-to-size picture frames that you can assemble and stick on the wall in minutes — no tools required.

They're perfect for up-and-coming artists because one frame can be cut to many sizes — ideal for experimenting across different formats.

How it works

  • 1: Set up your space

Lay out your frame kit, artwork, and a cutting mat or flat surface. Everything you need is in the pack — just bring scissors.

  • 2: Measure your artwork

Measure the height and width of your artwork, then match it to the included instructions to find your cut lines.

  • 3: Cut to size

Cut each side to length. For squares: all sides equal. For rectangles: two widths, two heights.

  • 4: Assemble your frame

Slot the sides together using the tab system to form a rigid frame.

  • 5: Add corner mounts

Stick a double-sided mount to each corner on the front of the frame — this adds strength and holds your artwork in place.

  • 6: Position your artwork

Peeling away the protective layer of the corner mounts, place your artwork inside the frame and press firmly to secure it in place.

  • 7: Mount your frame on the wall

Apply another mount to the back, remove the peel & stick protective layer, and press your frame to the wall.

FAQs

What do I get?

The Artist Starter Pack contains 6 multisize picture frames. Each frame comes with their own peel & stick mount and can adapt to one of 10 dimensions.

What sizes can I frame?

Each frame adapts to portrait, landscape, and square frame sizes from 21cm - 50cm.

Adaptable to common print formats including A4, A3, and more.

No glass or perspex front means you can frame 3D artworks.

Can I frame 3D art?

Yes! The frame doesn't have a glass or perspex front meaning it's ideal for 3D origami, artworks, and more.

How do I hang it on the wall?

Each frame comes with peel & stick wall mounts. We find that they have enough stick to be repositioned 5-10 times.

For heavier 3D works or canvases we recommend a more robust approach — the frame easily adapt to more conventional handing practises.

Do other artists use it?

Yes! Pop-up Frames was borne from the frustration of Kate Felton Hall, an artist from Suffolk who was frustrated with how much she was having to spend on picture frames when she changed career to be an artist. Read our story to learn more and see what other artists are saying about our frames further down the page.

Do they cause wall damage?

No — our peel & stick wall mounts are designed to be wall friendly. Other options like 3M strips or BlueTack tend to be much more likely to pull paint from the wall.

Artists loving the Pop-up Frame

As an artist, Pop-up Frames are the only frames I can use instantly to exhibit my sketches and smaller canvases in a contemporary tray style. They’re cut to size, so there’s no delay in ordering; affordable, so I don’t have to increase my prices; and once displayed, they’re indistinguishable from traditional frames.

Kate Felton Hall

As an emerging artist, presentation is everything. Pop-up Frames allow me to display my artwork with the same care and quality I put into creating it. They’re versatile, easy to use, and elevate the way I showcase my art on social media and around my home.
